In order to keep our audience engaged in our podcast, we need different segments to keep them entertained. Our segments will appeal to many types of people, while still staying within the theme of that episode.
In other food-related TV shows, Youtube videos and other forms of media, the hosts will break up the segments with a fun fact about the type of food that they’re talking about in that episode. Whether it’s a fast fact, trivia question or a riddle, it will be a good way to conclude an episode, separate segments or both!
Our first type of trivia will be fast facts. For this format, our inspiration is the Buzzfeed called Worth it. When they’re driving to the next restauraunt, they’ll say “cupcake fact” in an episode about cupcakes. They’ll change up the food based on the episode. For example, if our episode dealt with french fries, we would ask “Did you know french fries don’t come from France? They’re from Belgium!”.
Another format we plan to do is a quiz show. As a recap at the end of each episode, we would ask three questions related to that episode’s food and phrase them similar to a Jeopardy! style question. It’s up to the viewer to guess the answers. After about 10 seconds, we would then reveal the answers. Some examples of this would be “What is Chicago style pizza known for? Answer: Being deep dish” or “The name of this Mexican food favorite is Spanish for little donkey” Answer: A Burrito.
The third option would be to have a food-related riddle. “What is the only kind of cheese that’s made backward? Edam!”. There are plenty of funny and creative food themed riddles online that we can use in our podcast. Though riddles are similar to the quiz show segment, generally, riddles are more on the comedy side and are more well known, therefore making them easier for our viewers to guess.
We plan to do a mix of all three of these formats, such as the facts in between segments and a quiz show at the end with some riddles included as the questions. That way, everyone will learn something new about their favorite foods. This segment will appeal to trivia nerds, food lovers and anyone who wants to learn new things.
